Colts sign new kicker after Spencer Shrader injury

The Indianapolis Colts have signed a new kicker.

After having several kickers in for workouts on Tuesday, the team is signing Michael Badgley to replace Spencer Shrader, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Shrader would suffer a season-ending knee injury in the Colts‘ Week 5 win against the Raiders.

Badgley, who was most recently with Detroit, missed the 2024 season due to a hamstring injury. However, he is an experienced kicker.

From 2018 through 2023, which includes a stint with the Colts in 2021, Badgley made 181 of his 188 extra point attempts.

On field goals, he has made 83% of his career attempts, which includes going 39-of-51 from 40-49 yards and 7-of-15 from 50-plus yards, per PFF.

Taking over for Shrader, Badgley will have big shoes to fill.

Shrader was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September after being perfect on extra point attempts while also going 13-of-14 on field goal attempts, which included hitting a game-winner against Denver.
