Colorado thunderstorms cause DIA ground delay, stall Denver flights

Thunderstorms and high winds on Colorado’s Front Range and Eastern Plains caused a ground delay at Denver International Airport on Saturday, stopping hundreds of flights from leaving on time.

Federal Aviation Administration officials issued a ground delay for DIA as of 3 p.m. because of the storms. The alert was changed to a ground delay because of runway construction as of 6 p.m., with flights delayed an average of 91 minutes.
