CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A freeze-dried fruit snack sold across the country at major retailers like Target and Kroger was recalled due to the possible presence of metal fragments in the product.
Tru Fru issued a recall for multiple freeze-dried fruit products on September 26 after a customer notified the company that they discovered metal in the product, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
“Hard or sharp foreign objects in food may cause traumatic injury including laceration and perforation of tissues of the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach and intestine as well as damage to the teeth and gums,” the organization reported.
The recalled products include:
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate, 3.4 ounces
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate, 1.7 ounces
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate, 13 ounces
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème, 3.4 ounces

No injuries or illnesses were reported in connection to the contamination, and no other products were affected by the recall.
