Three detainees were shot at an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations facility in Northwest Dallas on Wednesday morning, leaving one dead, authorities said.
The other two victims are in critical condition, according to the Department of Homeland Security. DHS had said earlier Wednesday that two detainees were killed, before issuing a correction.
The shooter, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, according to multiple senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.
No ICE officers were hurt during the shooting, officials said.
The gunman fired multiple rounds from an adjacent building or elevated position, officials said.
The motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear.
