Elon Women’s Golf Unveils Fall 2025 Slate

0

ELON – The Elon women’s golf program announced a five-tournament schedule for the fall 2025 campaign, including the season-opening Elon Invitational in Burlington.

The Phoenix will play host to the sixth annual Elon Invitational at Alamance Country Club on Sept. 15-16. Elon last won its home event in the fall of 2022 and was a runner-up in the 2023 edition. Last year’s tournament saw the third round washed out due to rain with the Phoenix tied for second place through 36 holes.

Two more tournaments in September will send Elon to Canton, Massachusetts, for the Boston College-hosted Red Bandanna Invitational at Blue Hills Country Club (Sept. 22-23) and Asheboro for the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston at Tot Hill Farm Golf Club.

In October, the Phoenix then heads to South Carolina twice, starting with the Terrier Intercollegiate (Oct. 13-14) at the Country Club of Spartanburg. Fall action concludes on Oct. 27-28 with another College of Charleston-hosted tournament, the Edisto Island Invitational.

Elon’s 2026 spring schedule will be finalized and announced at a later date. The 2026 CAA Championship is scheduled for April 17-19 at The Clubs at St. James Reserve Course in Southport.

The Phoenix, fresh off winning the 2025 CAA Championship and earning an NCAA Regional berth last spring, opens the new season Sept. 7-9 at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at Grande Dunes Golf Club. A quick turnaround then sends Elon west to the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina at the Waynesville Inn & Golf Club on Sept. 14-16.

In October, the Phoenix travels to the Florida Gulf Coast for the West Bay Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 6-7. The two-day, FGCU-hosted event will take place at West Bay Club in Estero, Florida.

Antonio Gibson Gets into end zone Sunday

0

Gibson rushed six times for 27 yards and a touchdown and returned one kickoff for 28 yards in the Patriots’ 42-13 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

Gibson retained his role in the Patriots’ running back committee despite his Week 3 fumble, logging three fewer carries than Rhamondre Stevenson and one less tote than TreVeyon Henderson. The veteran back also scored his first touchdown since Week 13 of last season on a one-yard run with just under two minutes remaining in the first half. Gibson has logged between five and seven rush attempts in the last three games, and although his pass-catching work has been non-existent, he seems to have a relatively secure complementary role for the time being as a Week 5 road showdown with the Bills next Sunday night approaches.

Cooper Kupp Non-factor in SEA debut

0

Kupp brought in two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the 49ers.

Kupp struggled to establish himself in Seattle’s new-look offense, finishing a distant second behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba (9-124-0) in overall production. The 32-year-old Kupp may not be his former MVP self, but the fact he still finished second in targets bodes well for his prospects in games with higher passing volume than the 23 attempts we witnessed Sunday. For now, Kupp’s fantasy value may be limited to deeper formats for next week’s contest against the Steelers.

Christian Kirk Not seen at practice Thursday

0

Kirk (hamstring) wasn’t spotted during the media-access portion of practice Thursday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.

After being held out of practice Wednesday, per Bien-Aime, Kirk wasn’t present at the start of Thursday’s session, which sets the stage for what he does Friday (if anything) to loom large in terms of his chances to play Sunday against the Rams. If Kirk ends up sidelined this weekend, added opportunities behind Nico Collins would be available for rookie WRs Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, as well as Xavier Hutchinson.

Son Heung-min throws ceremonial first pitch at Dodgers game

LAFC soccer player Son Heung-min threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Wednesday’s Dodgers game against Cincinnati Reds.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — He’s officially an Angeleno!

LAFC soccer player Son Heung-min threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Wednesday’s Dodgers game against Cincinnati Reds.

The newly acquired star has already made an instant impact at LAFC. Over the weekend, Heung-Min scored his first goal to help LAFC earn a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas.

He scored unassisted for his first goal six minutes into his third MLS appearance to give LAFC (11-6-8) the lead.

LAFC will host San Diego FC on Sunday.
