Andy Robertson appointed Liverpool’s vice-captain

The No.26 takes up the role of deputy to Reds skipper Virgil van Dijk in his ninth season with the club.

Robertson, who wears the captain’s armband for Scotland at international level, replaces Trent Alexander-Arnold in the position after his departure to Real Madrid in June.

Asked for an update on the vice-captaincy on Friday, Slot told reporters: “It’s Robbo.

“He has played here so many years, won the league twice. It was Virgil, Trent, Robbo and Mo [Salah] last season. Trent left, so there are a lot of logical reasons for [the decision].

“He is a very good player, plays many games, knows what it takes, knows the culture, but also knows the culture of the club and the dressing room.

“Apart from all the quality he shows on the pitch, he plays also a big role in the culture we have here at this club. Which is, [as] I said many times last season, the biggest gift I could get from Jürgen [Klopp].

“That’s also something we definitely have to keep for my successor to have, this same culture, if I am ever leaving this club.”

In becoming a two-time Premier League champion with Liverpool, Robertson has made 344 competitive appearances since arriving at the club from Hull City in 2017.

Along the way he has also claimed winner’s medals in the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, Carabao Cup (twice) and UEFA Super Cup.

He has captained the Reds on seven occasions to date.

Washington, DC (RI) — Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says Trump Administration policies have ended restrictions on American energy and led to the lowest gas prices in years for this Labor Day Holiday. The Republican from Marion was asked about the role of wind energy, and says she favors an “all of the above” energy strategy.

Iowa gets around 60 percent of its electricity from wind, the most in the nation, but proponents are concerned after the Trump administration significantly shortened the timeline for wind and solar energy tax credits.

Hinson made her comments during her weekly conference call with reporters.

Since Jeff Brohm took over his alma mater, he’s benefited from the transfer portal. Without having to start over and develop a young signal caller, Brohm has gotten a collegiate veteran in the likes of Tyler Shough and Jack Plummer, who started his career with Brohm at Purdue. 

However, of the three transfers, there might not be a quarterback as talented as Miller Moss.

The other day, I asked you to think about which pitcher was unexpectedly having a good season, one that has helped the team in ways we wouldn’t have predicted.

It’s interesting. These are the results that I would have expected, but maybe I should have.

Walker’s contributions have been enormous this year. When Aaron Nola went down, they needed someone to step up and Walker was able to do that (as well as Mick Abel). He’s solidified the backend of the rotation and at least given them a chance to win the starts that he began. It’s really all one can ask from a fifth starter.

Let’s also not forget about Tanner Banks. Jose Alvarado was a big part of the pitching plan this season and his absence was massive. Banks was able to step in as that other left handed pitcher in the bullpen that would be able to get left handed hitters out with startling regularity. Seriously, look at those splits.
