People across the valley gathered for a vigil Saturday night to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk ahead of his memorial in Arizona on Sunday.
The vigil began at 7 p.m. off of South Las Vegas Boulevard in Town Square. People gathered in the parking lot with signs and flags attached to their cars.
At 8 p.m., the vigil proceeded down the Strip and concluded at Cashman Center.
Organizer Dillon Cox said he was surprised at the turnout.
“I was expecting 50 people, and I mean we’re well past that,” he said.
Cox explained that the idea for the vigil started after a neighborhood ride honoring Kirk. From there, he made a flyer announcing Saturday’s vigil to share online.
“Let’s make it big, and if people want to come, let them come,” he said.
Many attendees were reflecting on the moment they heard the news that Kirk had been shot on a college campus in Utah.
“The very first video was the up-close video, and it was heartbreaking to watch,” Cox said.
Like many others, he says he’s calling for an end to political violence.
“We want to have a good civil debate, and sadly, he was shot for that,” he said.
Day 2 at Laver Cup 2025 and the famed Laver Cup big dipper was in full motion as Team World seized the lead after victorious performances from Alex de Minaur, Francisco Cerundolo and Taylor Fritz, all of whom beat higher-ranked opponents. Meanwhile, 20-time Grand Slam singles champion Roger Federer stepped onto Andy Roddick’s live Served podcast set for an entertaining chat with his former American rival.
Chapman earned the save Saturday against the Rays, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Chapman collected save No. 31 on the season, and he has successfully converted each of his last 14 save opportunities. The veteran southpaw is a candidate to bring home what would be second career American League Reliever of the Year Award, delivering a stellar 1.21 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 83:15 K:BB over 59.1 innings. Chapman has a 30-save season for the first time since 2021 and the ninth time in his career.

According to The Sun, Depp wasn’t at home at the time of the incident but has since hired a professional trainer and introduced “all extra precautions” after his bullmastiff, named Bourbon, reportedly broke free from a handler before attacking the animals.
The Twins recalled Abel from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.
With Pablo Lopez (forearm) on the injured list and set to miss the rest of the season, Abel will come up from the minors to claim the open roster spot. The 24-year-old right-hander has accumulated a 7.76 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in the big leagues between Philadelphia and Minnesota, though he’s been dominant at St. Paul to the tune of a 1.85 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 24.1 frames. It’s unclear what role the Twins have planned for Abel now that he’s in the bigs, but if he takes Lopez’s place in the rotation, he’d be in line to start Thursday against the Rangers.

Gio Lopez has started his UNC football career on a pretty bad note, struggling through his first 3+ games.
On Saturday, the trend continued through the first quarter of action, one in which Lopez threw two interceptions on one possession.
Fortunately, the first was wiped away due to a UCF penalty, but just two plays later, a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage resulted in a change of possession the other way.
JJ Jones, one of the UNC football program’s leading receivers during his time in Chapel Hill, took to social media to voice his opinion on the team’s quarterback situation.
Put in Max johnson immediately ‼️
— Jj Jones (@jjjones_5) September 20, 2025
Jones called for the Tar Heels to put his former teammate, Max Johnson, in the game. Johnson appeared in the UNC football program’s season opener, relieving Lopez following an injury he suffered in the third quarter of the contest.
With the way Lopez has been performing, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Johnson earn another opportunity. Jones is simply speaking for a good portion of the fan base who want to see the same thing occur.
