The Tennessee Titans’ running back room will begin the 2025 NFL season short-staffed.
Third-year Titans running back Tyjae Spears will begin the season on injured reserve, a source tells The Tennessean, sidelining him for at least the first four weeks of the year. Spears is dealing with an ankle injury sustained in Week 1 of the preseason, and as recently as the night of the Titans‘ final preseason game, The Tennessean spotted Spears leaving the Titans locker room wearing a boot and with the assistance of a scooter.
Without Spears, the Titans’ options at running back include veteran Tony Pollard will get the majority of the game reps.
The Titans also have backups Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings, Jordan Mims and Jermar Jefferson who are fighting for roster spots.
Spears, 24, has dealt with minor injuries across his Titans tenure. He only played in 12 games in 2024, rushing for four touchdowns and catching one.
The Titans’ first four games are against the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans. Spears will be eligible to come off injured reserve beginning on Oct. 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

New York cut Dulcich on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dulcich put together a productive preseason with the Giants, but he won’t stick around on the team’s 53-man roster. The 2022 third-round pick could be a candidate to resurface on New York’s practice squad. He suited up for four-regular season games with the Broncos last season before being waived. He was then claimed by the Giants, with whom he logged another five regular-season appearances. All 12 targets Dulcich drew last year came during his time with Denver, of which he secured just five for 28 yards.
The Titans will not have one of their offensive weapons as they begin the 2025 season.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, running back Tyjae Spears is being placed on injured reserve as the team reduces its roster to 53 players. But Spears will be eligible to return after the season’s first four weeks.

Spears, 24, suffered a high ankle sprain earlier in the month.
A third-round pick in the 2023 draft, Spears registered 536 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns in 12 games last season. He has rushed for 765 yards with six touchdowns in 29 career games with two starts.
Spears’ injury dings the Titans’ depth at running back behind Tony Pollard. With cuts still to come, Tennessee’s other running backs are Julius Chestnut, Jermar Jefferson, Jordan Mims, and Kalel Mullings.
The Saints haven’t named their starting quarterback for Week 1, but we can officially eliminate Jake Haener from the list of candidates.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Haener will be waived as the Saints move to the 53-player limit on Tuesday.
Haener was listed alongside Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough as the first-string quarterback for the Saints on their preseason depth chart. While that suggested he had a shot of winning the job, it was clear that Rattler and Shough were ahead of him in the pecking order. Haener did not start any of the three preseason contests and he did not play at all in the second game as the Saints decided to keep Rattler in for longer than originally planned.
Haener was a 2023 fourth-round pick and he appeared in eight games last season. He started one of those games and finished the year 18-of-39 for 226 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

The Jets waived Corley on Tuesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
The 2024 third-round pick lasted just one year with the team that drafted him, logging 83 snaps on offense and fumbling out of the end zone on one of his five touches. Corley should generate interest elsewhere in the NFL, if only as a practice-squad signing after clearing waivers.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Giants are waiving TE Greg Dulcich.
Dulcich, 25, was selected by the Broncos with the No. 80 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of UCLA.
He was in the third year of a four-year, $5,241,839 rookie contract that included a $992,246 signing bonus when he was waived and claimed by the Giants in November 2024.Â
In 2024, Dulcich appeared in nine games for the Broncos and recorded five receptions for 28 yards and no touchdowns.Â

The Saints had high hopes for edge rusher Isaiah Foskey, but they haven’t come to frutition.
Foskey was a second-round pick in 2023, but multiple reports say that he will be waived by the team on Tuesday. The Saints have until 4 p.m. ET to set a 53-man roster.
Foskey played in 27 games as a reserve during his two seasons with the Saints. He had 25 tackles and a pass defensed in those appearances, but he did not record a sack or a quarterback hit after posting 22 sacks over his final two seasons at Notre Dame.
Chase Young, Cam Jordan, and Carl Granderson return as the top edge rushers for the Saints.
