Dortmund boss reflects on star trio’s expiring contracts

0

Three of Borussia Dortmund’s top earners are out of contract in the summer of 2026, with Niklas Süle, Emre Can and Julian Brandt all in the final year of their deals.

It remains uncertain whether the experienced trio will be offered new contracts, as sporting director Sebastian Kehl explained in an interview with WAZ.

“Next summer we will indeed have some expiring contracts, and this season we will carefully consider: which players do we want to continue with, and which will we part ways with?” he told the local outlet.

“These are decisions that are completely normal in football and are planned, especially in line with contract durations. This not only carries risk, but also presents an opportunity,” added Kehl.

Pascal Gross, Salih Özcan, Julien Duranville and Alexander Meyer are also out of contract at the end of the season.

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas fight leaves guests injured – NBC 6 South Florida

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas cruise ship returned to PortMiami on Monday after an onboard fight left guests injured.

The cruise liner says its team treated guests involved in the fight.

“Our team provided medical care to adult guests who were involved in an altercation onboard, and the guests are being treated for their injuries,” Royal Caribbean said in a statement.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the related medical call when the cruise liner returned.

“We notified local authorities and are working closely with them,” Royal Caribbean said. “As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no more information to share at this time.”

The Wonder of the Seas departed from Miami on Monday and was scheduled to make two stops in the Bahamas before returning on Friday, according to CruiseMapper.

Over the summer, Bild reported that Serhou Guirassy’s agent and brother was exploring the market with a potential future transfer in mind.

However, neither Guirassy nor his agent showed any real interest in leaving the club, according to Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

“I can tell you that over the summer there wasn’t a single conversation with Serhou or his agent aimed at leaving the club,” Kehl told WAZ.

“He wants to be successful with BVB, and he shows that every day.”

Kicker reported in July that the striker’s reported €70 million release clause has expired.

With the 29-year-old under contract until 2028, Dortmund are therefore in a strong negotiating position.

Bengals Sign Multiple Veteran QBs to Practice Squad Amid Joe Burrow Injury

0

As they stare down the prospect of months without quarterback Joe Burrow, the Bengals are reportedly adding to their stable of quarterbacks.

Cincinnati is signing quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Mike White to its practice squad, according to a a pair of Tuesday morning reports from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN. If confirmed, the signings will provide depth behind Jake Browning—who will step into the starting role with Burrow out due to a toe injury.

Clifford, 27, was a fifth-round pick of the Packers in 2023 after a lengthy career with Penn State. He has seen scare action in the NFL, missing on three pass attempts in the ’23 season against the Bears and Vikings.

The 30-year-old White brings more experience. He started seven games for the Jets in 2021 and 2022, and spent time with the Dolphins in 2023 and Bills in 2024. White has thrown nine touchdowns against 13 interceptions in his career.

The Bengals, carrying a shaky 2-0 record, are face the similarly beat-up Vikings on Sunday.
