Report: Patriots trading WR Ja’Lynn Polk to the Saints
Ja’Lynn Polk is headed to the New Orleans Saints.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports that the New England Patriots are trading the wide receiver and a 2028 seventh-round pick to the Saints in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero provided some more context on the trade.

“Trading players on IR is rare, but permitted. Ja’Lynn Polk gets a fresh start, the #Patriots get a little future draft compensation and unload over $2 million in guaranteed money, and New Orleans gets a low-risk flier on a player with two budget years left on his rookie deal,” Pelissero wrote.
Polk ends his time in Foxborough with just 12 receptions for 87 yards. Prior to the 2025 season, he was placed on injured reserve after having undergone shoulder surgery.
And with this move, that leaves only two members of the 2024 Patriots draft class who remain on the roster: QB Drake Mate and OL Caedan Wallace.

Patriots agree to trade WR Ja’Lynn Polk to Saints
Wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk is out for the year with a shoulder injury and he’ll be playing for a new team once he’s ready to get back on the field in 2026.
Dianna Russini of TheAthletic.com reports that the Patriots have agreed to trade Polk to the Saints. They will get a 2027 sixth-round pick and send a 2028 seventh-round selection to New Orleans along with the wideout.
Polk was a second-round pick in New England last year. He appeared in 15 games and made seven starts for the Patriots, but only caught 12 passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie.
The Patriots placed him on injured reserve in August and he’ll spend the rest of the year working his way toward a fresh start in New Orleans.
Saints’ Ja’Lynn Polk: Heads to Saints via trade
The Patriots traded Polk (shoulder) and a 2028 seventh-round pick to the Saints for a 2027 sixth-round pick Saturday, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Polk is on season-ending injured reserve due to a shoulder injury and won’t make an appearance for the Saints until next season at the earliest. The 2024 second-round pick will get a fresh start with the Saints after struggling as a rookie with just 12 catches on 33 targets for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Has Ranger Suarez’s recent performance changed your view of his free agency?
Fact: in the last 30 1/3 innings Ranger Suarez has pitched for the Phillies, he has allowed three runs.
Since it was announced that the rest of the season would continue without Zack Wheeler being a part of the starting rotation, it seems that Suarez has started to snap into playoff mode. He has been quite good during the past few postseasons, but in Septembers past, it has been rough sledding. He wasn’t the same sharp strike thrower we were used to. Maybe he was pacing himself for the sprint that is October, but this year, he has seemingly kicked it up a notch. Just in time, too.
Which begs the question: with his impending free agency, it had kind of been taken for granted the team would fill his spot in the rotation with Andrew Painter, saving themselves some money in the process. Has that changed your view of how they should be approaching his free agency? Do these past few starts show that the rotation would be better off with him in it than with a rookie? It’s definitely a thought to have.
