World Series champion Mark Teixeira is throwing his hat in the political ring.
The former New York Yankees first baseman announced his campaign for Congress in Texas’ 21st District on Wednesday. He released an official statement on social media, stating that he’s “ready to help defend President Trump’s America First agenda, Texas families, and individual liberty.”
“As a proud Texan and lifelong conservative who loves our country, I’m ready to fight for the principles that make Texas strong and America exceptional,” the statement read. “It takes teamwork to win, and I’m ready to help defend President Trump’s America First agenda, Texas families, and individual liberty.”
Teixeira’s announcement follows Congressman Chip Roy’s decision not to seek re-election as he runs for the office of the Texas Attorney General.

LL Cool J, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Riley Green Confirmed For September 4 “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”
Three days before hosting the MTV Video Music Awards, LL Cool J will drop by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
NBC says the entertainment icon will appear as the lead interview guest on September 4. Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will also appear for a chat on that night’s episode.
Later, Riley Green will take the stage for a musical performance.

You can now add swappable magnetic PopSocket grips to Kindle e-readers without undertaking any DIY hacks. PopSocket has launched new PopCase Kindle cases that come with a built-in MagSafe ring, optimally positioned for hand placement and weight management when a MagSafe-compatible PopGrip is attached.
The $40 cases are available for 11th and 12th-generation Kindles in six designs — including a transparent version that can be customized with stickers, and two illustrated designs that look very BookTok-inspired. There’s also some $30 thematically matching PopGrips featuring books, but the cases will work with PopSocket’s existing lineup of MagSafe grips, including the Kick-Out Grip and Stand, if you want to read hands-free.
Users in the Kindle community have been using the adhesive versions of PopSockets for years to make the e-readers easier to hold, and less likely to fall on your face when reading in bed.
