Oregon State Police (OSP) say three Oregon state senators received bomb threats Thursday morning, but said the threats were false.

News of the threats was first reported by The Oregonian.

All three state senators were reportedly Democrats. No one was hurt, according to The Oregonian.

KATU reached out to the lawmakers and heard back from two of them.

Senate President Rob Wagner released a statement.

“Let me express my deepest gratitude to the Lake Oswego police for its swift response. Acts and threats of political violence have no place in our democracy. In this dark moment, we must seek the common humanity in one another and work toward healing our nation,” he said in part.

Senate Majority Leader Kayse Jama echoed a similar statement.

“I thank law enforcement for their swift and professional work responding to the threat I received today. We can oppose each other’s ideas without resorting to violence and intimidation,” he said.

Giants have everything riding on matchup with rival Cowboys

It is Week 2, and already the New York Football Giants find themselves teetering on the tightrope between urgency and desperation.

It is Week 2, and once again it will be getting late early for the New York Football Giants if they do not beat the Cowboys in Jerry World on Sunday.

Think about this: In six of his last seven seasons, the Eli Manning Giants started 0-2 and failed to sniff the playoffs.

Giants fans over the offseason looked at the daunting September schedule and shuddered. But at least they — and Russell Wilson — could sigh in relief a bit now that Micah Parsons no longer wears the star.

Commanders defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. carted off the field with right quad injury vs. Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Washington Commanders defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. was carted off the field with a right quadriceps injury midway through the second quarter against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Wise had gotten though the line of scrimmage and was attempting to block an extra-point attempt. Green Bay’s blockers fell backward and landed on the back of Wise’s leg.

Wise’s teammates surrounded him offered gestures of encouragement as he got onto the cart. Wise raised his right fist in the air as he was carted to the locker room. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.

The 31-year-old Wise is in his first year with the Commanders after spending eight seasons with the New England Patriots. He suited up Thursday after being listed as questionable with a knee issue.

Aaron Boone’s Fenway Park decisions come with much bigger consequences

Sometimes the Yankees can be the stick, just as they were while taking two out of three from Houston and Toronto in consecutive series the first week of the month.

But the Yankees can also be the piñata, just as they were in The Bronx in dropping 12-2 and 11-1 games to Detroit on consecutive nights this week when the bullpen became combustible leading into Thursday’s series finale.

The Yankees had Cam Schlittler on the mound against the Tigers with José Caballero at shortstop for the second straight game, Aaron Judge in right field, Giancarlo Stanton at DH, Austin Slater in left field, Cody Bellinger in center, Ben Rice behind the plate, Paul Goldschmidt at first base after sitting for three of the previous four, and both Austin Wells and Trent Grisham on the bench.

These were choices. But more interesting will be the lineups manager Aaron Boone prescribes for the three-game series at Fenway Park against the Red Sox that starts Friday night. This is the series in which the Yankees and Boston will fight for home-field advantage in what is shaping up to be the best-of-three, first-round playoff series that would be played entirely in the higher seed’s ballpark.

Face off! Watch timeless (and still jacked) Yoel Romero staredown opponent ahead of terrifying BKFC debut

Former three-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero is making his highly anticipated bare-knuckle boxing debut tomorrow night (Fri., Sept. 12, 2025) when he takes on Theo Doukas in the “Featured” bout of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) 80: Perdomo vs. Adams 2, inside Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The two fighters faced off at the BKFC 80 ceremonial weigh-ins, and Romero—still an absolute physical specimen at 48—looked ready to make an immediate impact in the promotion.

Check it out below:

Since his release from the UFC in late 2020, Romero has competed five times in Bellator and PFL, then went on to destroy two opponents under the Dirty Boxing banner (watch highlights). His transition to bare-knuckle boxing adds another chapter to a career defined by knockout power and relentless aggression (who the hell would fight this man with no gloves?)

The answer is Doukas, making his BKFC debut after a 2-2 run in MMA.

Also on the BKFC 80 card is Kevin Ferguson Jr., son of the late Kimbo Slice, who will be making his own BKFC debut against veteran Derek Perez. With Romero leading the card, fans are in for a night of high-stakes, action-packed fights.

UMass Boston Emerging Leaders Program 2025

The University of Massachusetts Boston’s Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) recently celebrated the graduation of its 2025 cohort with its annual showcase, highlighting innovative solutions to pressing challenges across the Greater Boston region.

Now in its 20th year, the ELP brings together mid-career professionals for a year-long leadership journey that culminates in team project presentations, a graduation ceremony, and a community reception. More than 900 professionals have completed the program since its founding, each trained to lead with collaboration, trust, and respect.

“This program has become a hallmark of UMass Boston’s commitment to developing consequential leaders,” said Chancellor Marcelo Suárez-Orozco. “Our graduates embody teamwork and a deep respect for difference, qualities that are vital for change-making in our region.”

This year’s showcase featured four interdisciplinary teams whose projects tackled real-world regional needs, guided by mentors who supported experiential learning and community collaboration.

“These aren’t hypothetical exercises,” noted Tanya Barnett, director of the Center for Collaborative Leadership, which oversees the program. “Our fellows designed actionable solutions, showing courage, creativity, and collaboration. The transformation we’ve seen—both personal and collective—points toward the future of inclusive leadership.”
